Michael Cox apie MU liūdesėlį: https://theathletic.co.uk/1284650/2019/ ... open-play/

TL;DR: Ne visai finishinge problema; Maguire mldc; Mata pamiršo, kaip žaisti; midfielderiai useless, o Fredas išvis šūdus daro.
Tiems, kam įdomu, bet tingėjot skaityti:

Yep, šitas nukvakęs mokyklos fizrukas yra didžiausias autoritetas, galintis pakomentuot United transferus :handgestures-thumbup:

So who is Steve Walsh? Someone may ask. I will just say he scouted Bartosz Kapustka, Ahmed Musa, Islam Slimani, Yohan Benalouane, Andrej Kramarič for Leicester City. He also scouted Yannick Bolasie, Ashley Williams, Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez for Everton. Ir buvo išpirdolintas iš pastarojo darbo už visišką nekompetenciją, by the way.
His last job was with Everton. He recommended Harry Maguire, Andrew Robertson (combined 20m), Jonny Evans and Haarland (4m), Everton rejected all.
Aš net ne ypatingai jį kaltinu, kad pasirinko Keane vietoj Maguire, nes man tada irgi Keane atrodė geresnis variantas (nors aišku būtų malonu, jei EPL klubo futbolo direktorius futbole gaudytųsi biški geriau už random bičą, rašinėjantį į futboloforumas.lt).

The Athletic irgi verti paminėjimo.

“While I was at Everton, I offered them Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire deals, when they were at Hull, and it was worth £20 million for the pair,” is one of the things he does reveal. “Everton wouldn’t take them.

“I had a deal done for Jonny Evans too before he came to Leicester, but again they wouldn’t take him. Erling Haaland, the striker with Salzburg, I had him and his dad at the club with a deal done for €4 million. The club wouldn’t back me.”

“You have to work out what you want and need. Don’t try to attract players with no plan.

Mind blowing ir naujus horizontus atveriančios įžvalgos apie tai, kad Wan Bissaka is not very good when he gets the ball ir vietoj jo reikėjo pirkt kliurkinantį English international Trippier, nes United don't need a good defender? Ar kad Lukaku is a big baby, you know? Yes, we know, kapitone Obvious, žinojom tą jau prieš 5 metus, ačiū labai.

O konkrečiai, kas buvo įdomiausia? <...bla bla bla...>

The Athletic ilgas straipsnis su Antonio Valencia išėjo. Šita vieta čiut ašaros neišspaudė. SAF pabaigos United :madridista:
“Did you have to mention that?” he winces. “Ugh, it was just incredible. I remember being in the dressing room at Sunderland, just waiting for the final whistle from City so we could celebrate. And then… yeah. But I will never, ever forget the words of the manager. Straight away, he sat us down. He said, ‘You do not forget the lesson you have learned here today, the hurt you are feeling. Now you have another season where you have to kill teams off (United had missed out on goal difference) and we will come back even stronger.’ We won the league by a landslide, but it started right there at Sunderland. Then the post-season: players were coming back 10 days early to get them back in shape and win the league. These things do not happen by accident.

“It is true that we didn’t sign a centre-back in the summer of 2018 and it is true there was a difference of opinion on one or two players between the manager and the recruitment department,” Woodward said.

“Sometimes I have to be one who delivers the ‘no’, which isn’t easy. Our natural tendency is to back the manager in every possible circumstance. But we have to listen to the recruitment experts too.”
Aišku džiugu, jog anie du nėra nupirkti, bet tie recruitment experts parodo dar vieną visiems puikiai žinomą tiesą, jog esamoj staffo struktūroj vietos futbolo direktoriui nenusimato.

Maguire vietoj Perisiciaus man atrodo (bent jau iš to ka Mourinho aiškino, kai SKy punditu dirbo). Kas parodytų kiek sveiko proto (ne)turi mūsų valdžia.

P.S. So far už tiek pinigų Maguire yra visiškas flopas.

https://theathletic.co.uk/1421297/2019/ ... solskjaer/

Ištraukėlė:
In Solskjaer’s case, the only flickers of mutiny from the crowd during Sunday’s game were directed towards Victor Lindelof when he turned the ball back to his goalkeeper instead of taking the opportunity to go forward, or the unfortunate moments when Andreas Pereira and Fred showed it was possible, whatever anyone tries to tell you, to have two Brazilians in midfield who could not keep the ball.

Overall, though, there was nothing from the crowd to leave the impression that they want the club’s directors to adjust their thinking. And, to put it bluntly, that makes Solskjaer a lucky man.

Outside the ground, there were street hawkers selling the latest edition of the “United We Stand” fanzine, featuring the second of a two-part interview with Woodward, the club’s executive vice-chairman.

One question concerned what it had been like to sack the previous three managers. “Grim,” he replied. “It’s not a pleasant experience and I hope I never have to do it again.”

Privately, all the relevant people have reinforced the same message: that Solskjaer is safe and there is absolutely no point speculating about his future or thinking that position is going to change any time soon.

Sometimes, in football, it is best to treat these briefings with an element of caution. In this case, it seems genuine. And United plod on, telling us it will all get better soon, as a tiny speck in Liverpool’s wing-mirrors.
Nu tai žodžiu, Ole's at the wheel.

Toks netikėtas Raiolos komentaras, jog Pogba laimingas būdamas United žaidėju (Zidane'as matyt kažką kito nusižiūrėjo) ir dar prikomentavo visai protingų minčių apie DoF reikalingumą klubui, apie neapykantą SAF, nu žodžiu įmetu tekstą su lašininiu:

Mino Raiola says that Paul Pogba wants to stay at Manchester United and “win prizes” but the agent believes the club needs to support the midfielder more.

Raiola laid out Pogba’s feelings and frustrations about United and why he will not get “angry” with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because of the respect he had for him when they were players.

Raiola confirmed that Real Madrid had tried to sign the World Cup winner last summer but insisted that the 26 year-old would not push for a move and go against the United manager’s wishes.

Pogba returned to United for £89.3 million in 2016, four years after the midfielder left for Juventus, which remains the highest fee ever paid by a British club. “I think that Paul really went home,” Raiola says. “Paul could have gone elsewhere. But he really chose with his heart, to go home. Paul is a very, very nice person. For example, he’s not able to be angry at Ole because Ole treated him so good when Ole was an older player and Paul was a younger player and the respect and the love that he received from Ole means he cannot get angry at Ole.”

Pogba, who has only played six times this season so far, has been out injured since September with his comeback delayed after he missed two days training because of illness. He attended his brother’s wedding in France on Friday but needed a check-up with United’s doctor on Saturday with his symptoms worsening the following day.

“Paul wants to be successful and happy and wants to win prizes and he would love to do that with Manchester United,” Raiola says. “Okay there was big interest from Real Madrid and Manchester didn’t let him go. We didn’t make a fuss about it and he didn’t make a fuss about it because I work in accordance with the player.

“You know other players can bring things to extreme but Paul doesn’t like that. So you work differently. There was an interest from Real Madrid but they (United) didn’t let him go and I’m sorry because I think that Paul being French then (Zinedine) Zidane is an important factor in French football history. But Paul is not the guy I hear about from (Gary) Neville and all the frustrated ex-players who say, ‘he should be ashamed of this, ashamed of that’. Ashamed of what? He is working every day and doing his best. He’s not complaining there is no Champions League. Is he perfect? Nobody is. Is he also responsible for failure? He feels so. If you are in a team you are responsible for failure.”

One issue highlighted by Raiola is his belief that United need a sporting director, something the club has spoken about for some time without, yet, making an appointment.

“The club needs a specialist, a sports director, someone between the team, the coach and the owners, someone who can bridge the sides,” he said. “Today you need that specialist because the coach has no time to manage scouts and other tasks and I feel that is lacking at Manchester United.

“In truth I look at Manchester United and think that they have more an American mentality than a European one. By that I mean that sometimes it seems the club is more concerned about the economic part than the sports part and that is a very American way of thinking. They need someone to connect the economic side and the sports side.”

With that in mind the argument is that United, maybe, are lacking an identity. “Players that make a team, that fit it, that fit a philosophy, and Manchester United in this way is looking for a philosophy,” Raiola says. “People think I hate (Sir Alex) Ferguson. I don’t hate Ferguson or (Pep) Guardiola. I don’t hate anyone. I teach my sons the same: no hate. That negative energy is not allowed in my life.”

Raiola and Ferguson clashed over Pogba’s departure from United in 2012, but the agent says: “At least when Ferguson was there you saw it was his team – the way they played, pro-active, and the players that came in came in with an eye on how to play that game.”

Raiola believes United do not have that at present. “Is there a better midfielder (than Pogba) in the world? No!” he says. “If you come to that conclusion then the other conclusion is - now if you sell Paul Pogba would you buy a better one? No! Where is he? But if you create your identity then maybe you discover that Paul is ideal. If you, say, want to play with two holding midfielders then where does Paul play? In several positions.

“So I say, make your identity of what you want your club to be and then find the ‘Lego’ parts for it. Then it’s easy to say, ‘if we play 4-3-3 and one holding midfielder then who is the best to play here and there?’ You need that clarity. A big club chooses the system and then chooses the players. They don’t say, ‘we choose the system because of the players’. And then you say, ‘we create the players’.

“(Jurgen) Klopp and Guardiola have a clear thing, of definition, of identity. You know if a player fits them or not. Or you even say different, ‘this is a player for Klopp or for Guardiola’. And tell me the player who you would like for Manchester United? You don’t know because you don’t know the definition of Manchester United. The identity you don’t know.”
